Lora Hubbel becomes 3rd CP candidate for Governor!

Lora Hubbel has announced her intent to seek our party's nomination at our state nominating convention on July  14, 2018.  We now officially have 3 gubernatorial candidates in the race! Don't miss the first debate LIVE on Wednesday evening. (See details in prior posts.)

She has sent a public letter (below) to all members of the Constitution Party of South Dakota explaining why she is serious about seeking our nomination for Governor.

Welcome to the CP of South Dakota!

Why I want to run for Constitution Party Governor
June 24, 2018

Dear SD Constitution Party:
Please accept my request to be nominated for Constitution Party Governor. I have run for Governor in South Dakota on the Republican Ticket in 2014. I did quite well for daring to challenge a sitting Governor and garnished 20% of the vote when I was expected to only get 3-6%...especially since I was shut out of the primary process given that Party bosses were upset that I would call out their pick for Governor.
I am familiar with both the Republican and the Constitution Party platforms; I love them both and view them as quite similar. However having been in the legislature I know that the platform means nothing to most Republican politicians. And, sadly, neither does the State or US Constitutions.
We have been warned about the 2- party system by our founding fathers. John Adams said:
There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.
George Washington seemed to feel the party system was a blight in and of itself, implying that it leads to despotism and “sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction…turns …to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty” and “the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient … to discourage and restrain it.
I believe the wisdom of our Founders is proving true in South Dakota. Our 2-part system is not about idealistic differences, it’s about shear power. The Republican party votes no different than the Democrat Party and indeed, consists of several former Democrats/Socialists. There is no longer a majority of statesmen in our capitol, but opportunists with a “gang” mentality that seeks to profit from the manipulation and excesses of government.
I am hoping the SD Constitution Party will be a landing place for the good conservative people of South Dakota because the Republican Party here is no longer a safe place for us.
Many have said a third party would destroy the Republicans and allow the “worser of two evils” access to power. I say the “worsers” are already in power by infiltrating the Republican party. My wish is that the Republicans will lose their 40 plus years of absolute power and subsequent corruption in South Dakota. I believe the Constitution Party does a better job of vetting their leadership and is a more pure place to run for Conservatives to join and even run for office.
My core beliefs are:
I am 100% prolife. As an RN and Biologist I do not see any reason for abortion. Once conception has occurred, a full person is formed and at that point and only time changes the child's appearance.
I am 100% pro-constitution including all of our amendments to be taken literally for 2018, without having to have a certificate to “allow” any of them.
I believe the States created the Federal Government and that the Federal Government’s power is defined and limited, whereas the vast amount of power belongs to the States.
I believe in the balance of power as determined by the Constitution, and that SD is suffering from a weak legislature by the design of past governors. I plan to bring that power in balance.
I believe our US Constitution was a near perfect document devised by learned men who themselves stated that it was Divinely guided into existence.
I believe our Founders when they state they were Christian men living under our Judeo-Christian influence because the Declaration of Independence and our US Constitution borrows 96% of their content from the Bible, the Word of God.
My passion as a Governor will be to root out all the unconstitutional “statutes” the past governors have put in play. This includes rooting out ObamaCAre, CommomCore, monopolies, and self-dealing opportunities for politicians. I know where these pollutants are in our state and we must rid ourselves of them. There is enough power in our current SD constitution to return SD to a state where the people can thrive and not just watch politicians and their friends unethically prosper off of tax-payer funds.
